Lacrosse fans, get ready! One of the most anticipated matchups of the season is just around the corner. On Monday, March 17th, at 7:00 PM, the Herndon Hornets and the South Lakes Seahawks will square off in a high-energy boys’ varsity lacrosse showdown at Herndon High School.
🔥 Rivalry Renewed These two local programs have a long-standing rivalry that dates back years, with bragging rights in the Reston-Herndon area always on the line. Many of the athletes on both teams grew up playing together in the Herndon-Reston Youth Lacrosse (HRYL) program, making this game even more personal.
Historically, South Lakes has dominated the series, winning 12 out of the last 16 meetings. However, Herndon pulled off a narrow 5-4 victory in 2024, proving that this rivalry is far from one-sided. The all-time largest victory in the series belongs to Herndon in 2010, when they won 19-4, while South Lakes’ biggest win came in 2017 with a 17-5 triumph. Every year brings new energy, and 2025 will be no different!
