Calling all kids eager to try something new this fall! Herndon Reston Youth Lacrosse (HRYL) is excited to announce our Fall 2024 New Player Clinic. Designed specifically for beginners, this clinic is the perfect opportunity for boys and girls in grades K-8 to discover the fun and excitement of lacrosse in a safe, welcoming environment. Whether you’re curious or already passionate about the game, our clinic is a great place to start your lacrosse journey!

What to Expect

At our New Player Clinic, we focus on building the foundational skills needed to play lacrosse. Our experienced coaches will guide participants through a variety of drills and activities that emphasize essential techniques, including:

• Catching and Throwing: Learn the basics of passing and receiving, which are key to playing the game.
• Cradling: Practice the art of controlling the ball while moving.
• Dodging: Develop the agility to evade defenders with quick moves.
• Shooting: Practice aiming and shooting with accuracy and power.
• Footwork and Speed: Improve your overall agility and quickness on the field.

Best of all, the clinic is conducted in a “No Contact” environment, focusing on fun and skill development without the worry of to much physical contact.

• Eligibility: Open to boys and girls in grades K-8 who are new to lacrosse.
• Dates and Times: Saturdays, October 19th, October 26th, and November 2nd, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
• Location: Herndon Middle School (HMS) grass fields.
• Registration Fee: $40
• Equipment Needed:
  • Lacrosse stick*
  • Mouthguard
  • Athletic clothes and shoes
  • Water bottle

(*Let us know during registration if your child needs to borrow a lacrosse stick for the clinic.)
