Herndon is a town built on community, and nothing embodies that spirit more than our dedicated volunteers. Every year, countless individuals give their time, energy, and passion to support local organizations, events, and initiatives that enhance the quality of life for all residents. To recognize their invaluable contributions, the 39th Annual Mayor’s Volunteer Reception will take place on Sunday, April 27, 2025, during National Volunteer Week.
Hosted by Mayor Keven LeBlanc and the Herndon Town Council, this annual event is a heartfelt “thank you” to those who have worked tirelessly to make Herndon a better place. Whether through youth sports programs like Herndon-Reston Youth Lacrosse (HRYL), civic groups, or town-wide initiatives, volunteers are the backbone of our thriving community.
This year’s celebration will feature an exciting new visual display that will showcase the impact of volunteerism in Herndon. Stay tuned for more details on how you can contribute to this special tribute!

Why This Matters
Volunteerism is the heart and soul of Herndon. It strengthens our schools, youth programs, parks, and local initiatives. At HRYL, we witness firsthand the power of volunteers—whether they’re coaching young athletes, organizing events, or mentoring future leaders.
We encourage our HRYL families and supporters to take a moment to nominate someone who makes a difference. Let’s celebrate those who give selflessly to keep Herndon a vibrant, welcoming, and thriving community.
