Club Overview
Herdon-Reston Youth Lacrosse (HRYL) is a developmental club for boys and girls from Kindergarten through 9th grades that has served the Herndon and Reston communities since 1996. The HRYL club is a non-profit youth lacrosse program comprised of students living in the Herndon High School and South Lakes High School pyramids. HRYL is a member of the Northern Virginia Youth Lacrosse League (NVYLL), which consists of 24 lacrosse clubs that serve over 3,500 girls and 6,000 boys in the area. Lacrosse is primarily a spring sport, but HRYL also runs a fall clinics/scrimmages. The spring season starts in January and runs through the end of June. Registration for the spring season opens in late November. See the registration tab to join a team. The club is managed via an executive committee. Committee meetings are open to everyone.
Our Mission
HRYL is dedicated to advancing the sport of youth lacrosse and fostering learning lifelong lesson through sports. HRYL is committed to teaching:
- the fundamentals and traditions of the game of lacrosse to youth players, coaches, and parents,
- Teamwork
- Sportsmanship and the concept of fair play, and honoring the game,
- Positive coaching,
- Love of the game and having fun.
Our coaches pledge to know and care for each child in our program, teach the fundamentals and values of the game and, most importantly, see that everyone has fun. HRYL goal is for each and every participant to feel like they have made a contribution to themselves as well as to their respective team. HRYL strives to develop players with the skills to play at the high school level. Our club is also actively supported and advised by the South Lakes and Herndon High School coaches.
Volunteers
HRYL is a 100% volunteer organization and we welcome volunteers to join. You do not need lacrosse experience to get involved. The league will provide parents with training to learn how to teach lacrosse. Click on Volunteers (left hand menu) to see other volunteer opportunities.
